Maca (Lepidium meyenni Walp) is a tuber that grows in the high plateaus of the Peruvian Andes, above 4,000 m altitude in the province of Junin. Maca root was a sacred culture of the Incas, who took it to increase physical and mental performance, improve libido and virility, balance hormones and moods, with black maca being the rarest and most valuable, with the highest levels of phytochemicals (plant sterols), vitamins, minerals and amino acids. There is some research that indicates that the black variety also stimulates sperm production and motility in men when taken regularly over time. Our maca is gelatinized (sprayed at 140º for 5 seconds) in order to remove the starch, improve its assimilation and retain its active ingredients.
